Wi-Fi QR code generator

Enter your network name and password to get a QR code that connects a phone to your Wi-Fi. The password never leaves your browser.

Exactly as it appears in the Wi-Fi list, including capitals and spaces.

Your password stays in this browser. The printed code contains it, so anyone who can see the code can join.

Free, no sign-up. Everything runs in your browser and nothing you type is sent to us.

How to use it

  1. Type the network name (SSID) exactly as it appears in the phone's Wi-Fi list, including capital letters and spaces.

  2. Choose the security type. Nearly every router sold in the last ten years uses WPA2 or WPA3; pick WPA for those.

  3. Enter the password, then download the PNG and print it for the counter, the table or the waiting room.

  4. Test it: forget the network on your phone, scan the code, and check it joins.

Who puts their Wi-Fi on a QR code

Cafés and restaurants

Guests stop asking staff for the password, and a long, secure password is no harder to share than a short one.

Clinics, salons and waiting rooms

Visitors can get online while they wait, without the receptionist spelling out the password.

Homestays and hotels

A framed code in each room lets guests connect in a second, whatever language they speak.

Tips

Common questions

Which security type should I choose?

Choose WPA for WPA, WPA2 or WPA3 networks, which is almost every modern router. Choose WEP only for very old routers, and No password for an open network.

My password has symbols like ; or :. Will it work?

Yes. Backslash, semicolon, comma, colon and double quote have special meanings in Wi-Fi QR codes, so the tool escapes them with a backslash as the format requires.

Does it work with a hidden network?

Tick "Hidden network" and the code tells the phone to look for it. Some phones still connect more reliably when the network is visible.

Is my Wi-Fi password sent to golinq.me?

No. The QR code is generated in your browser and the password is never uploaded. Note that the printed code itself contains the password, so treat it like a written-down password.

Why doesn't my phone connect after scanning?

Usually the network name or password has a typo, or the wrong security type is chosen. Check the name letter by letter, including capitals and spaces, against the phone's Wi-Fi list.
